Physical Description

A lean, muscular man strolls into the bar.  His height is above average for a human, about 1.8 meters.  He stands tall and proud as if his arrival is significant.  He immediately starts scanning the room with his eyes as he walks towards the bar.  His gaze flits from woman to woman in the room, lingering on the more attractive ones.  He pays closer attention to male companions of the women in the room as if measuring the threat they pose.

He is dressed a little strangely, neither chic nor paramilitary.  An unremarkable face with brown eyes that sparkle with glint of a quick mind peer from under a worn brown fedora. A short, slim goatee and mustache frame his lips, which are curled into a slight grin.  The beard is almost black, but his hair appears to be dark brown.  A white sleeveless undershirt stretches over his muscular torso over which is draped a sturdy looking dark brown jacket that has the appearance of leather, although it seems a little thick.  He steps over to the bar and props one shoe on the foot rail and the large, well defined sinews of his leg press themselves against the baggy leg of his tan pants.  This pose draws attention to his footwear, dressy work shoes that look like they are made form some type of reptile skin with an olive color and a faint banded pattern [king cobra skin].  As he reaches his hand out to flag down the bartender, his jacket falls open slightly, revealing plain tan suspenders holding up his pants and a heavy pistol in a shoulder holster.

An attractive young woman walks by, trying to look oblivious to his presence.  He takes off his his brown fedora and bows slightly, revealing thick, short, dark brown hair that has been loosely combed back.  He smiles wide and says in a heavy accent "Bonjour petit femme, a very good day to you."  The accent seems French, but there is something strange about it.  He watches her and nods to himself as she walks on, then orders a bottle of Blackened Voodoo beer.

Bonus Attribute Point +2 BPs (SR Companion) : +1 to Intelligence.  This does not affect the Racial Max or Racial Modified Limit.  Etienne is a quick thinker and very perceptive, even though he is not very formally educated..
Lewd -2 BPs (custom) : Etienne likes sex and he doesn't mind advertising it.  He tends to measure up all women he encounters as potential mates and if they have a male escort, he assesses the threat.  This incurs a +1 penalty to social targets of uninterested women and he has to make a successful Willpower (woman's Charisma) test to avoid hitting on a particular woman, regardless of her level of interest. :{)}
Computer Illiterate -3 BPs (SR Companion) : You can use icon-based stuff OK, but you are basically spoiled by gee whiz user interfaces or you have little experience with computers.  You're the person that keeps forgetting how to reply to just one person in the e-mail and such.  Etienne does not get along with computers out of sheer stubbornness.  Once he has been shown how to do a computer-related task, he can functionally accomplish it, but only simple tasks.  He is a little immature when dealing with the topic and dismisses such abilities as the domain of egg heads and pencil necks if pressed about it.  In the bayou, this was less of a problem, but even he has to admit that in Seattle being computer savvy is advantageous.  It may not be long before he get some education, but it will be slow and subtle so that he does not appear to be acquiescing to technology.

Contact: Jean Baptiste Boudreaux, Gator Shaman Restaurateur.  Jean is Etienne's Uncle or "Noncle."  Jean owns a cajun restaurant in the Upper Queen Anne Hill neighborhood just northwest of downtown Seattle.  He lets Etienne stay in a loft apartment above the restaurant.  Uncle Jean served in the army and mustered out of nearby Ft. Lewis.  He knew a couple of friends with money to invest so decided to set up house in Seattle and open up his restaurant.  His business is doing very well.  The abundance of non soy items on the menu brings in a lot of high class clientele that are eager to throw off the shackles of fashion, put on a plastic bib, and sit down to a steaming tub of crawfish in a relaxed atmosphere.  Jean likes his nephew Etienne, but he does have a family and a business to look after.
Contact: Consuela Guevara, FBI Wage Mage.  Consuela trained for field work as an Awakened investigator with the FBI.  Although she has done some field work, she was assigned to the Seattle FBI department responsible for coordinating interstate fugitive pursuits in the Seattle area.  She has established a good working rapport with the local police and security agencies.  She met Etienne when he was pursuing Raffee into Seattle across state and international borders.  She and Etienne hit it off pretty well and they have had some passionate encounters, but the relationship is still extremely casual, which suits them both.
 

Personal Philosophy

At the start of the campaign:

  • Dislikes/Hates: Hates snakes and those that prey on the weak and innocent.
  • Likes/Loves: "I like good food, friendly women, and family."  Etienne is also fond of Awakened women in particular.
  • Goals: "Put away de bad men."
  • Family: "When all else fails, you always got your family."  Etienne specifically has two  siblings, an older sister, Marie, and a younger brother, Claude.  His mother and father are still alive, they are named Anne and Beauregard.  Beauregard is not his biological father; this is pretty obvious as Beauregard has dark black skin and Etienne is thoroughly caucasian.
  • Organized crime: "Some are good, some are bad.  I don't like de bad ones."
  • Cultural Influences: Cajun, cajun, and cajun.  He is interested in Tribal culture, but is not yet knowledgeable about it.  He is also very into the Awakened community scene.
  • Religion: "I believe dat you gotta do right, everything else work itself out in de end."
  • Affect: Generally he has a festive air about him.
  • Killing: "You gotta do what you gotta do."
  • Awakened Community: Etienne is a very socially active member of the Awakened community, spending a significant amount of time at Awakened hangouts.

About His Lifestyle

Etienne lives over the restaurant of his uncle, Jean Baptiste Boudreaux.  The restaurant, Cajun Crocodie ("Cajun Gator") is a slightly upscale cajun restaurant in the Upper Queen Anne Hill neighborhood of the Downtown Seattle district.  There is very little soy on the menu and even those selections are well-seasoned and prepared.  Because of this, the menu is a little on the expensive side in spite of the casual dress code and rustic decor.  It is a very popular place.  The abundance of authentic, non soy cajun items on the menu brings in a lot of high class clientele that are eager to throw off the shackles of fashion, put on a plastic bib, and sit down to a steaming tub of crawfish in a relaxed atmosphere.

Etienne's studio apartment is quite small, barely holding his weight set and random junk.  However, Etienne helps out in the kitchen occasionally and his uncle allows  him essentially free access to the food.  It is understood that when Etienne is in the studio, he is responsible for dealing with any threats to the restaurant, a sort of off-again on-again guard, but his uncle has yet to obligate him to specific duties and times.  With the AAA security rating, Etienne has yet to have an opportunity to repel invaders to his uncle's restaurant, but he has had the pleasure of politely "helping" a few drunkards into cabs.
