Assembly Notes: Tyrant Guard
Use Pictures!
You should look up pictures of the model in the Tyranid Codex
as well as keep the box the model came in close by. The picture
on the cover of the box and the pictures in the Codex will
help guide you as to the intended posture and appearance,
which can be very helpful, even if you want to convert the
model. The Tyrant Guard comes in a blister, so there is no
picture there, but the Codex is still quite helpful.
Some General Comments
There are two different Tyrant Guard models. The blades on
the Rending Claw arm, the Spin shield, and the knobs on the
chest are different. There are probably more differences,
but those should do.

Procedure
Note: for more details, you can look at the Biovore
Assembly page, which is very similar.
- Clean all of the flash off of the pieces.
- Play around with the model, loosely assembling it to get
a feel for how it will go together. Pay special attention
to the angles of the limbs with respect to the body.
- Prepare all of the joints and the feet for pinning. The
Spine Shield is tricky; try very hard to make sure both pins
are basically parallel to one another so that you can slide
the Spine Shield into place with a minimum of bending and
awkardness. If there is any one joint to take your time on,
this is it.
- Test all of the components to be sure they fit in well.
- Glue the legs to the torso and the feet to the washer. I
do this all at once so that I can get good positioning of
the components.
- Let the glue cure (at least fifteen minutes, preferably
an hour).
- Join the Spine Shield. Note that the joining of the parts
favors a specific orientation.
- Let the glue cure (at least fifteen minutes, preferably
an hour).
- Join the Rending Claw. Note that the joining of the parts

- Let the glue cure (at least fifteen minutes, preferably
an hour).
- Join the Lash Whip. Note that the joining of the parts favors
a specific orientation.
- Let the glue cure (at least fifteen minutes, preferably
an hour).
- Separate the Lash Whip strands by careful cutting clipping,
file and position as desired.
- Fill the base with putty. (for more detail check out the
Biovore Assembly page)
Hindsight
- Separating the strands of the Lash Whip in advance so that
you can check the positions from the start might be a better
approach, but then again, maybe not.
